About us

The Untravelist is a travel magazine, a small-group trip project and a travel design service for people who want to travel independently.

All three share the same approach: research, and relationships with the places we work in and the people we meet. We can tell what's grounded from what's only famous because the same picture has been everywhere.

‍

We are not a luxury operator, an adventure-tourism company or a mass-tourism business. We are a collective of travellers who worry about what travel can do to communities, environments and cultures, and we care more about why and how we travel than where.

Don't come to us with a bucket list to tick off. We'll be happy to hear from you if you've already read the guides to where you're going, along with its novels and poetry, and watched its movies.

The Untravelist is for people who want more from a destination than its top ten, on their own terms, without giving up their free time to research it.

‍

It's also for people who'd like company on the road, but a gentle and curious one.
